Siem Reap has been a tourist icon of Cambodia since 1992, when UNESCO listed Angkor Wat as a World Heritage Site. In every video or magazine dedicated to Cambodia, you can see Angkor Wat and the surrounding palaces in Siem Reap.
Siem Reap is located in the north of Cambodia. In the Old French Quarter and around the Old Market of Siem Reap, architecture in the French colonial and Chinese style has been preserved.
The city has museums, traditional Apsara dance performances, a Cambodian cultural village, gift and craft shops, silk farms, rice fields in the countryside, fishing villages and a bird sanctuary near Tonle Sap, as well as cosmopolitan places for drinking and dining.
